Not realistic:

The person being is still wearing shoes...at this point he would have been tasered.
Both screeners are smiling.
Neither screener is wearing a du-rag.

That is good news. Good to see someone has put good ideas into play.

I would have fit in that expert category. Even with all the baby stuff, I'm still in the expert lane, but being that it takes forever to debulk, the family lane is perfect for us. :D

In SXM, on the way back, my wife was holding our son who fell asleep while on the security line.

I was carrying
a)camera backpack
b) rolling the carry-on roll on bag on with baby seat strapped to it,
c) diaper bag.
d) baby stroller.

By the time we rolled up, I took off all the items, then my shows and wallet and went through. I must say I was pretty quick.

Once on the other side, I was there gathering everything when the idiot behind the x-ray says "Sir, can you please remove your items?"

NY most polite NY tone came out: "Are you **** kidding me? What's it look like I am doing? We've got a infant here and unless I'm a mutant I only have 2 arms."

Embarrassed, he faced forward.


Thankfully, I do believe that none of the TSA folks have been as idiotic.

He probably didn't realize it was all your stuff and felt embarrassed after you New Yorked him. The checkpoints are speeding up without shortcuts on the screening side. The percentage of passengers needing secondary screening due to alarming is down because passengers are learning what they need to do.

The diamond lanes are going to be a tall order in New York because we don't have the large lane checkpoint like they do in the mid-west. Basically the checkpoints are in archways.

Is it possible for an airline to take over duties of the TSA? If an airline was able to have their own trained staff, sponsored by or working for the government I would fly them any day.

They had it before 9/11 and no the airlines won't get it back because their priority is to get you in a seat on the plane not security. There are five airports that have private screening companies, the statistics are the same for the private and government run airports. Airports have the prerogative to "Opt-out" of having TSA run screening. Only a few very small airports have expressed interest but most want TSA and don't want the liabilities.
