Stuart, how do you find Alaksa Air? Chances are I'll be flying some route in August that might involve them and I'm curious if they are worth it.

I find there product to be quite nice, comfortable seats, and first is nice too, even though I have only sat down for a second in first. My ticket is only $50 because my father has a Alaska Air Visa card and companion tickets are $50, once per year. I have flown them many times to and from SEA and all around Alaska. Also my first upload to JP was their Salmon-thirty-Seven

    Sweet!

You're not going to ANC after all of those shots in the Spotting thread? :)

Stuart I hate you! I need to go back to Alaska, fantastic place. I've flown AS a few times and they are ok...I don't think I'd fly them Transcon. I've found the seats to be very narrow, hard, and the onboard product to be bland. Not bad but nothing to rave about. On the other hand Horizon Air is FANTASTIC! The Q400s are roomy, smooth, quiet, tons of leg room, and they serve free booze! I will say both Alaska and Horizon's SEA hub is rather good with ample places to spend time waiting for a connection.

This will be my 4th time on the AS transcon. Tommy, we do it because of the $50 companion ticket. Adam, these plans were made months ago and unfortunately, I enjoy fishing over spotting, spotting is something I can do here, but not king salmon fishing...

It gets cold there in Sept Mark and the days get much shorter. You may want to look into next year and book for the summer now vs going this year. I was there in Aug on a cruise and we were wearing winter coats.

Were going out there in August for a cruise, flying delta first class, and short hop to anc on alaska air. The problem is, theyre making you pay $25 extra per bag now...

Thanks, Tommy and Stuart for the feedback on Alaska Air.

I'd either fly them between SEA and EWR or SFO and SEA and it seems like their transcon product could not compare to Jet Blue or Continental. So it seems like SFO-SEA it will be!

Re: Making the Alaska run again.

For any of you fishing nuts like me, the other good thing about AS is that they value the importance of keeping fish cold. At SEA and all other major airports they are out of, if your luggage is not able to get on the aircraft, or the airplane is delayed due to 2000' ceilings, they have walk-in freezers for customers. Much better than when we had the fish shipped via UPS and it sat on the ramp at STL, while clearly marked KEEP FROZEN.
