It's been a good two months or so since I had spotted at JFK so yesterday my father and I decided to take a trip down to the airport. The weather report was rather disappointing and the weather certainly wasn't impressive. There was a thick ceiling and some broken clouds below however the sun was still visible but didn't do much to light up the planes.
Just as we were pulling into JFK ATC switched the airport from 4's to 31's so we headed over to Firestone and met up with Mat Sokol and his father. Art Brett and Josh Rawlin appeared a little while after we got there as well. The newest PIA 777-300ER and Finnair MD-11 in the moomis color scheme were probably the highlights of the 31's as well as finally shooting the Air India 777-300ER and Malev 767-300. A little after 5 ATC switched the airport around to 22's so off to the mounds we went.
At the Mounds the weather was slowly increasing but unfortunately ATC kept sending most of the European heavies to 22R instead of L. We did get the new TAM colors and the new Qantas colors which was an added plus. By 7pm the light was gorgeous.
