    Pan Am GONE AGAIN

    http://www.flightglobal.com/articles...rtificate.html

Boston-Maine Airways’ operating certificate has been officially stripped by regulators, after
the carrier failed to provide “any evidence” to support its financial ability to continue or
expand operations. The Portsmouth, New Hampshire-based airline, which operated under the
Pan Am Clipper Connection banner, was given a US DoT warning in February that its
certification would be pulled due to lack of adequate finances, managerial competence and
    regard for the law.
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Who knows, someone may re-revive them in the future and bring them back to success.

I hope now this name can rest in peace without being disgraced and further.

    Re: Pan Am GONE AGAIN

Sad, but it's been a long time since the brand had any equity with the average consumer. I believe the reason the name was revived so many times was because of the recognition the Pan Am brand still enjoyed in the first several years after the bankruptcy, but now it's over 15 years since the real Pan Am has been gone and as time has passed (along with other once-household names like TWA and, for that matter, Chemical Bank, Oldsmobile. etc etc) and the world has changed, it is increasingly irrelevant to the general public. If someone in the US was to start a new global airline, they would likely rather use a 21st century hip and trendy branding (e.g. JetBlue) than something that reminded people of the '70s. Must admit that 777 looks pretty cool though. RIP Clippers!
