In The Market For A New Lens

I'm looking to replace my kit 18-55 lens for my 400D and am looking for ideas of something to go along with my 100-400. I've been looking at the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM and have read alot of great things about it but am worried it might not be wide enough. 18-24mm is not a big difference but I'm looking for feedback about other lenses in this range. Thanks

There's also the 17-55 f/2.8 IS...from what I've read, it's similar in price and image quality to the 24-105L, and it's going to behave better in low light than the 17-85.

The range isn't as good though...

The difference between 18 and 24 is actually pretty significant...The wider you get, the more each mm counts. It depends on how wide you want to go...what everyone told me to do when I replaced my kit lens was go through my pictures and see what focal lengths I was using. I saw that most of my pics were torwards the long end, so I ended up with a 28-75.
