    Copyright/Ownership Question

A few months ago, I bought a 4x6 on eBay of VP-BDJ at LAX in the early 90's. I wanted to try to get it on Jetphotos or A.net, but I didn't know whether I have the right to or not. The seller was selling many other aircraft photos, and I asked him about it. He said that he didn't have any more copies of the Trump photo, and he didn't have the original. (I assume that the print I have is the original?)

So, would it be a copyright violation if I uploaded it?

Unless he sold you the rights to the photo in addition to the print you do not own the rights, and neither A.net nor JP.net will accept it as an upload. You may have the "original" print, but there is a slide/negative out there. As the photographer, in most cases unless you sell (or give) the rights to someone, you retain them.

No you cannot upload that photo to JP.net. You can only upload photos that you took. The photog still holds the rights to the photo you purchased. Sorry.
