    Hong Kong Spotting

Just processed some of the HKG stuff... this was on the 12 h overnight transit at the airport.

SQ 744 just bout to commence taxing to 07L..

    Springbok following SQ...

The elusive Cebu 320, made my night :D

A 737 in company of giants... as the first of the BA pushes back (any questions why BA badly needs 380, all 3 departed within 2.5 hours!)

Last departure at about 1:25... HKG Oasis..with overnighting ANA

Last of the cargo coming onboard as both pilots busy with preflight FMS.

Trying 16:9 format, the ET about to roll off for Addis Ababa.

Daybreak brings local resident jetting off 07 Left...

Always good to catch Thai bird...especially in old schemes

    And few local residents...

For being the top int'l destination, it was surprisingly no activity between 1am and 6am, however morning was amazing...witnessed 6 744F landing in a row at 6:30am (3 CX, SQ, Martinair, ElAl) followed by 2 additional CX 744!

    Cheers

I thought HKG was isolated. Are those apartment buildings in the background of the Cebu A320 shot or reflections?
Spotters have been Homeland Security before HS was a glimmer in the president's eye.

Raj, great job ! I really like the night shots and the clarity of high-rises in the background. You really seem to have mastered the art of high quality night photography, not always an easy task.

I had to great visits to Kai Tak in 1995 and 1998 but have yet to visit the new one, looks like great traffic.

    Cheers

No reflection (reflection would be nothing but terminal...and thats the hardest part of terminal night photography. I use a 2X2 cloth to hind them!) VHHH is built on an island, however the Lantau Link (believe its the chain of islands connected to mainland) is not so far behind. Not so sure why the white lights on one floor throughout the building (maybe its a community floor? )

Yup agree HKG is one of the top destination, especially if one likes heavies. This was my 6th visit (3 times @ Kai Tak) and always amazes me with the traffic. The new airport is still one of the powerhouse (in passanger/cargo) compared to regionals like BKK, SIN, KUL, etc.

Raj, excellent shots. Did you stay up all night to take these pictures? Did you take them through the window or from some observation deck outside?
