Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
I've always wanted to go there ever since I got into this hobby. I've been saving up to take a spotting expedition somewhere, and it'll likely be there.
That photo though... wow.
Wow. seems like you can reach out and touch the thing!
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Awesome!
Um, what??? Is the plane supposed to have its wheels cross the road at car-level??
(If that were an A340, it'd be on the front page of the newspaper!)
I think that road actually crosses or ends at the side of the runway.Originally Posted by adam613

Backlit piece of garbage! :-p
The road ends right there I think. Or rather, I think it turns and becomes an "authorized personnel" road on the airside.
The views from there are amazing I've seen other shots from there before and it's just spotters' paradise.

Wow! I really want to go there now!
nwa FOREVER!
That spot is on the Polderbaan, approximately 150m from the runway. This is the eastern side, but you can just as easily get to the western side to avoid back-lit planes. The other side is more easily really, since there is a bicycle path running alongside two/thirds of the western side of the runway so you can pick the perfect spot. The eastern side really only has the bit shown on the photo, and a few metres more to the right into the grass field.
The amount of spotters would indicate a pretty standard day in the weekend considering the weather. During weekends with favourable weather it will be more busy still.
Type "ijweg vijfhuizen" into google maps to see the spot at the western side. It does not yet display the new spotters area that has been made (western side), but it is roughly at the same spot as the small concrete parking area near to the runway. At the eastern side nothing has changed landside. Airside some of the roads and buildings have been moved around, but you can't get there anyway.
I THINK?!?! I want to Shoot at AMS? No, you want to...
