Oh Great, I am sure its gonna hit the fan now.
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Question one.. why was the mag in?
Question two.. Why was the gun out of the lockbox
Question three.. Why was a round chambered?
Question four.. Bets that the liberal crowd comes out of the woodworks and tries to kill the FFDO program?
Question five.. If first three do not apply than how come I have never met the magical lockbox troll ever in my life with the access I have at work?

Granted, but what's the point of being allowed to have a gun in the cockpit if it's empty and locked in a box?

That was the watered down plan that the lefties left us with when the plan was launched but in my opinion if your aircraft has a cabin cam (like jetblue) and in flight you "stay tuned in" by the time a breach is about to occur yuou can have the weapon out, loaded and chambered in time for one between the eyes.

Not a good day for US Airways today...first they have a Capt with a lose gak in the cockpit and then wings flying apart in air. Man Parker must have been pissed today.

The gun is in the event somebody gets past the reinforced cockpit door. By the time they break down the reinforced cockpit door, they could have loaded 20 guns....

Re: Pilot's gun discharges on US Airways flight

The US Airways pilot whose gun discharged in-flight is on leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the company and federal authorities.

The incident on a Denver to Charlotte, N.C., flight Saturdaywas the first of its kind since a federal program allowing pilots to carry guns began after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Officials with the Tempe-based airline aren't providing details about the incident on Flight 1536 except to say the pilot's gun accidentally discharged and no one was injured. The plane has been removed from service. US Airways spokesman Philip Geedid not disclose the pilot's name or base. Given the route, and the fact that the flight operations of US Airways and America West aren't yet merged despite their merger in 2005, he is based on the East Coast, not Phoenix.

The Transportation Security Administration began investigating as soon as the plane landed, spokesman Dwayne Baird said. He said it is working in tandem with US Airways and said the FBI likely will be involved.

now that's the second story i've heard about things accidentally going off in the last 24 hours. did they trip on it too?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Todays Metro has a picture of the hole in the cockpit all and the small exit hole. seems the plane was at 8000 ft when this happened, so they were luck they weren't preasurized at the time...

The swiss cheese 319 will be flying the Boston shuttle through the day tomorrow. I do not know what the patch looks like on the bird if it is noticeable from the exterrior or not but but if anyone is intrested she will spend the entire day flying LGA-BOS-LGA-BOS after she gets in from DCA in the morning as 2158.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
