    United Airlines temporarily grounds several 747 jets over maintenance: report

    SAN FRANCISCO, Mar. 20, 2008 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) -- UAL Corp.'s (NASDAQ:UAUA) United Airlines has grounded several Boeing (NYSE:BA) 747 jets to ensure compliance with federal maintenance standards, according to a media report on Thursday.

    The Federal Aviation Administration ordered the temporary groundings after discovering that test equipment used at a South Korea maintenance station was faulty, the Wall Street Journal reported. [Full article]

    how long did this temporary grounding last? i heard it was only a few hours to get all the airplanes signed off.
    it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

    But Tommy, such "quality" work can be done at a much more reasonable price overseas. :roll:

    This is why I see UAL as the next legacy carrier to disappear...well that and $100/barrell oil.

    Won't matter, airlines have had trouble with maintenance records, even when there maintenance is done in the US.

    Though, I would prefer if maintenance was conducted here at home.

    Turns out the machines in question, used to test altimeter accuracy, was not necessarily faulty, but overdue for calibration.
