I would say Sat AM on base so we can also catch the Blues and other action at Republic. It's about a one hour drive from Gabreski to FRG, so the earlier we can get out there the better.Originally Posted by Nick

I think it will be too long of a drive for me from northern Westchester. Just a big hassle. I will be attending the airshow though. What day will the visit be, if any, because then I will know if I can go.

Anyone know if the Blue Angels or other aircraft will be flying photo-ops around Manhattan next week? BA's did it 2 years ago. Thanks

Hope to see everyone there. And remember, leave your seeing eye ferrets at home!
NO PETS. Of course, this excludes animals that aid the handicapped. Unless that animal happens to be a ferret, and if you are using a ferret to lead you around everywhere, you will probably have trouble getting to the show in the first place.
Why the hell would a blind man with a ferrett go to an airshow?.........I love it! :borat:
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

>Plus the crowds blow to...if you want to see the best part of the show go to the practice session on Thursday and Friday. The beach is empty and the practice session is generally longer then what you see on the weekend. I think hanging out on New Highway at FRG is far more enjoyable then the show itself. Bring a cooler a chair and a ladder and your all set. <
No you REALLY have to go to the beach to enjoy the show. The great thing about 2 days is you do one at the beach and one at FRG. And the crowd isnt so bad if you stay to the east or west of the Jones Beach Tower. More room and less congested. There I will pull up my chair and chill out. Usually have my ipod set up for
some good rockin tunes but listened at a level where they dont drown out the sounds of the engines. In fact you guys should check out "If I Could Fly" by Joe Satriani from the "Is There Love In Space" CD. A few other great airshow Satch tunes are "Surfing With the Alien" and "Speed of Light".
Back in 2005 I was finishing up two months of disability due to surgery and didnt even realize they did "practice" shows. But hearing some chatter on my scanner I drove down to Jones Beach and was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately I havent been able to do it again. The one other time I was off that Friday rain cancelled the
practice show.
Word on the street has it that the Raptor will be dodging SWA 737s next weekend, rather than spending time out east. No confirmation of this, but it sounds likely to be the case.
Phantom II - The World's Largest Distributor of MiG Parts!
Ill be at FRG on Sunday. Hope to see you guys there.
