When I departed this afternoon from EWR I noticed an Air India 747-400 in the new colors parked over by the UPS ramp. Does anyone know if the aircraft went tech or if it is here on a governmental visit?

I don't know the reason for sure but its been there for over a week now. They seem to have been doing some maintenace work on it in the past few days though.

If the registration of the aircraft is VT-ESN then it could very well be parked on a state visit, especially since you mention it has been here for over a week. From photos it seems like -ESN is the aircraft used for state visits.

Perhaps some sort of tech issue has kept it here longer then it was intended to?

I taxied by the Air India 747 several days ago and remember seeing VT-ESM.

4X-ELE is in EWR today, the newest 747 for LY.

Three Miami Air 737's at EWR today, two are sitting over by the United Hanger and N777AS, one just departed.

Air India was a maintenance issue. Departed last night. Today N4UB a G2 is here. It's owned by Kingfisher and is in the full airline livery.

N757AF was here yesterday, a Coast Guard CL60 arrived this am and Jet2.com 757 is inbound this afternoon. They've been operating charter flights on Thursdays for about a month now with Sunday night departures.
