I was able to get a tour of the new Jetblue T5 at JFK. Scheduled o open in the Fall of this year it will have 26 gates that will accept either of our current AC. It will not have any customs facilities so they will continue to arrive at T4. The terminal is very customer friendly and will be a hit when it opens. If you have any questions post away....
Walking up the departure road from T6
On the Departure Level
Looking Toward Old TWA T5. The Port Authority owns this building and no decision has been made as to what it will be used for. Jetblue will be placing some electronic check in kiosks in it.
Inside by the ticket counters. In the middle 20 lanes of TSA security
The escalators lead to the Air Train Connector
Once past the TSA security Checkpoints its down the ramp to the Concession/Waiting area
In the large waiting/concession area. This leads to all gate areas
Another view of the concession area.
Looking down the East wing towards the old T5 trumpet.
Plane spotters dream,Indoors looking down 31L
Looking towards T4
Looking out the last gate to see the Old piece saved from T5. A final decision has yet to be made as its condition is very poor.
Just some spotting while on the tour
AA757 with winglets
Just some of the miles of belts in the new state of the art Baggage system.
One of the six customer bag carousels
The view from the air train bridge. The steel work at the left of the picture is the new connector from the elevator bank at T6 to the new T5. It will have 3 sets of moving walkways. The construction that you see on one the tubes was necessary to allow traffic to move under it. This tube is not part of the original Sarian building so modifications could be made. We cannot touch the other tube
