    Semester 1 photo work...

    Hi everyone,

Some of you may know that I currently live in the NYC area because I'm attending university at School of Visual Arts (SVA) for photography. In December I completed my first semester at school, and turned in work completed during the previous 5 months for review. Just for fun, I'd like to share some work from my Studio and Photography on Assignment classes. Please enjoy:

    Assignment: Still Life

Assignment: Glass/Reflective Still (this was a royal pain to light evenly...)

    Assignment: Portrait Without a Face

    Assignment: Fashion I

    Assignment: Fashion II

Assignment: Create a Character (2 images)

Assignment: Create a Character (single image)

It's just 2 weeks into the new semester, and I've already got a ton of work piled up! Time to get started on some new projects :)

    ciao ciao,

    jMay

nice work josh. what's the experience like at the school in general? i've been wanting to do the same thing, and might do it as soon as i'm done with my degree in the summer.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

well you're right on that one. the setting couldn't have been better, at the docks with some guy thinking he's hot stuff standing in the background...

Thank you all for the kind words towards these pieces.

To answer your question, Matt, my experience thus far at school has been absolutely fantastic. Having previously attended 2 other schools for a small amount of time (The George Washington University and NYU), I finally feel that I'm at the perfect place. It's a dream to be studying my greatest passion, photography. The staff at SVA is comprised of some of the world's finest working professional photographers as well as highly renowned art critics...as it should be (the school is within the top 3 for photography in the nation). When anywhere amongst the 8 stories of the Photo building, you can simply feel it in the air that you're in a very positive environment which focuses on the cultivation of self-expressed sensibility. I'm really looking forward to what the next 2.5 years of my education will present me with.
