    LAS 1/13 C-5 and Shamu.

Well John Klos is officially the new good luck charm! I would love him to fly out here every week because after a gloomy day Saturday, Sunday was a day we dream about. Myself and John Klos took Dave Budd out too dinner the night before and we discussed how the winds may give us the elusive runway 1 configuration LAS spotters hope for because of the hotet backdrop you can get departures with and the perfect light. When I got up I was listening to liveatc.net and thought I wasn't the most coherent it sounded like the normal 25 stuff. As I got in my car in and pulled on to LVB John Klos called and gave me the news that our prayers were answered and that the 1s was in use. I pulled into a Jack in the Box to grab some food and found John waiting on Sunset and we sped over to the parking garage where Dave was in place and enjoyed some of the greatest shooting you can have. Perfect sun and subjects rotating right in front of you. It was a nice experience. I then was blessed with Shamu landing. She has been on my list forever and though she took forever to turnaround the light was still cooperating and we got her leaving. Afterwards we introduced John to IN-N-OUT burger for lunch and then went to the viewing area for afternoon shooting and once again were blessed with a C-5 Galaxy landing. Couldn't see what came out as her cargo though. Here are some shots from the day.

It's without a doubt one of the best spotting experiences, you will not be disappointed.

You need the 400. With the exception of a 767 or bigger you easily over 300MM.

Nice shots, Nick! I see that C-5 is a Stewart bird - you didn't have to go all the way to Vegas to catch one of them!

i like the hawaiian shot, three sands airplanes in the background!
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

LOL I know but after 20 blue 737s seeing that thing in the distance was very exciting, wish I knew what came out of her nose. She dropped something off.

Thanks Matt, imagine the L1011 was in town? That could have been great.

Nick, I think you summed it up, I can't add much except to say that I am so glad I was finally able to do it. A big Thanks to You and to Dave Budd for helping with the shooting spots and allowing me to partake of the infamous In-and-Out burger. I took approximately 1500 shots over the 2 days, and I had to get right back to work today, so it'll be a few days before I post pictures from the weekend.

OMG, have you been hanging out with Fred? Did you shoot every 737 in WNs fleet?

Glad you had a great time. It was a great two days. Dinner at S&W was priceless. What a steak! Good times. Glad you got runway 1 config, it's hard to come by.
