I mean JESUS. What COUNTRY do we live in?!?!

It almost makes me want to stand still, step back and observe some stupidity of people. At the same time be saddened, horrible things can happen on any given day like that to people.

Sometimes I'll open CNN and just cry at the news, and sometimes I will laugh at the stupidity of people.

I know it is unfortunate, and it's been said before, but it's what gets ratings.

Dude you forget the best one. The two guys in Manhattan who dressed up a dead neighbor and wheeled him to a check cashing store in a chair so they could cash his
$300+. The guy had died of natural causes but that didnt stop these geniuses from
trying to cash the check. They told the clerk the guy was "sleeping"!!!!

    Weekend at Bernies!

I couldn't believe the guy who threw his 4 kids off a bridge. That floored me.

Yes, but try to find news of a positive topic. Negative news makes it to the headlines, positive news makes it to the cutting floor.

The news in the US is often gruesome and unfortunate. But with over 300 million people, you're bound to get those type of things.

I'm much more happy to read those headlines, than reading about a woman being sentenced to a death-stoning because she was raped, or someone being executed for practicing an unauthorized religion, or about famine in our nation.

Our headlines are horrible, but I don't see it as a reflection of our country...for the most part.

    Re: The News today...

The fact is these things happen and it’s the media's job to report on these horrible stories. In many ways I think we feel that all of a sudden these horrible things have just started to happen, not true. We hear about it more because we are all so connect and news today can travel and reach people with greater ease then in 1950.

Heck in 1950 you had Blacks being lynched in the south, you just didn't hear it as often because the outlets didn't exist to report it. Our population is also much larger then it was 50 years ago and therefore simple statistics will dictate these gruesome events will increase. I find it important these things are reported as a reminder to people that this world is far from perfect.
