    CompUSA (store closing sales)

Good place to get some reduced rate Christmas presents.

CompUSA to close all of its 103 stores
The consumer electronics store will run store-closing sales during the holidays to get rid of inventory.
    December 7 2007:

DALLAS (AP) -- Consumer electronics retailer CompUSA said Friday it will close its stores after the holidays following sale of the company to an affiliate of Gordon Brothers Group, a restructuring firm.

CompUSA operates 103 stores, which plan to run store-closing sales during the holidays.

Saw this in the morning. Got to admit I never really liked the stores. Bad service and people that weren't very helpful. I now go to Microcenter near Eisenhower park. That store is awesome.

Could be some good bargains to be had on the closing down sale - I've been looking for a new flat panel monitor!! :)

For those thinking of running out for some holiday bargains, remember CompUSA closed their NY area stores earlier this year.

I'm not surprised they are going out, when they said they were closing a good amount of their stores last year you knew it was only time before they went under. The closing sales they had when they closed the Long Island stores last year weren't that great.

The Manhattan store on 5th Ave isn't too bad...I've purchased a few things from them over the years. Now, I'm going to keep my eye out for cheap CF cards :)

The one at 57th and 8th is still open. Decent selection but crummy staff. Sucks though, there are essentially no major computer stores left. Micro Center is great but they are few and far between. Clearly these stores have taken a hit from online retailers, it's too bad they haven't figured out a way to survive. There are still times where you want to go to a store and get something RIGHT NOW and not wait for and pay for shipping.
