    IB A340-600 ( EC-JOH) Offically A Write Off?

    Hey Guys:

I came across this information from jp.net and I would like to know if it is indeed accurate or not? The plane its self is only a little more then a year old, and I could imagine it still has some life left in her? Maybe someone else here can provide more information on this.

    Here is the link

I am in no way saying jp.net is inacurate but I just want to be double sure, and it is quite sad to see the 346 as a w.o.

If its in the database as a w/o, then consider it done. Sad to see the bird go.

I think it's a bit soon for insurance reps and Airbus engineers from France to have made a definitive decision on the best course of action, but it's a good possibility. It would be a good $50 million to replace the engines and the landing gear, but Quito has no facilities to handle such a repair. It will be very difficult for them to even move it as there aren't many large cranes and heavy equipment in the area. It will be VERY expensive to fix, but at the same time there is a long wait for new aircraft and not a lot of used ones on the market. If Iberia cashes that insurance check they don't have many options.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

i wouldn't trust that database to be legit and acurate, though in my opinion the airplane will be a write off. i can always be proven wrong though.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Those people who grabbed their belongings in the overhead bins are total *******s...If someone was blocking my way to exit a plane that has "crashed" I'd plow right over them.

That video actually belongs to an evacuation from an Iberia 747 operating IB6250 from JFK to MAD. I believe the aircraft had an engine malfunction and was evacuated on the runway.

Tommy, I was thinking the same thing. People stopping to grab their stuff out of the overheads after a CRASH are absolutely brainless.
