JetBlue may add flights here
October 04, 2007
JetBlue Airways may soon expand local service.
David Barger, CEO of JetBlue, said the airline is looking at several possible new routes from Stewart International Airport. He spoke Thursday morning during the annual Orange County Partnership's Investor Breakfast.
The new routes, if they come to fruition, would be a big boost for the airport. Barger said likely candidates are additional markets in Florida, the West Coast and/or Las Vegas, and Puerto Rico. He said the airline expects to announce some expansions soon for Stewart. Barger spoke to 190 people during the breakfast, at the Inn at Central Valley.
Currently, JetBlue flies to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and West Palm Beach. Those routes are a boost for leisure travelers, but local business people, in particular, would like to see a wider array of destinations available from Stewart.
