    D80 Anyone?

    Hey Everybody,
I'm look to upgrade from my current D50 to a D80.
I've read online review and other people's opinions on the camera.
I like the fact that it has 10 megapixels and 11 AF areas. More cropping and better chance of focusing on the target.
But does anyone here use the Nikon D80, any opinions on it?
If so, how is it for aviation photograpghy?
    Thanks!

That camera is a lot for the money. Definately a great value and good body.

With the D300 coming out the D200 prices will probably drop.

I'd get the D200 but it only takes CF cards, and I have a lot of SD cards for the D50.

You can buy a cf card reader for SD media, that will solve the problem. I have one of them and it works great.

I've had the D80 since December (had the D70 before it) and really love it. It's top notch and an excellent value. Additionally, I've had no problems with it.

I would caution anyone to fully check out the D200 before buying it. Just because it has a higher line number doesn't mean it's better. The D200 is a "professional" version of the D80, but note it has the same number of mega pixels. The D200 offers a number of smaller advantages over the D80, such as a button to directly control ISO rather than going through the on-screen menu. You ultimately need to ask if these additional upgrades are worth the extra cost (approx. $1,000) when that money could be used to buy a lens. Plus, in a few years the camera will become "old" (as is the current situation with the D200 and D300). Lastly I'll add the battery life on the D200 is half that as the D80.

Then the D80 is for you. Get the 18-135 lens package or get the body and Tamron os coming out with a 28-300 with VC (vibration control) for about $600.
