    Post Airliners.net & JetPhotos.net Thumbnails

    Hey everyone,

We've added the ability to add thumbnails of Airliners.net and JetPhotos.net images in NYCAviation.com posts. The thumbnails link to the full-size pictures on their respective sites. They certainly look a lot nicer than plain old text URL's and readers are more likely to click them.

You will see two new buttons above the message body box when you are making a post, "airliners" and "jetphotos." Follow these simple instructions and you'll have thumbnails!

    Airliners.net photos:
    1. On an Airliners.net photo page, copy the URL from the line above the photo that says URL (link) to this photo: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1262894/L/
    2. On the NYCA post page, click the airliners button.
    3. Paste the URL between the [b][airlinerss. It should look like this:
    [code][airliners]http://airliners.net/open.file/1262894/L/[/airliners
    JetPhotos.net photos:
    1. On a JetPhotos.net photo page, copy the URL of the page from your browser's URL box.
    2. On the NYCA post page, click the jetphotos button.
    3. Paste the URL between the [jetphotos] tags. It should look like this:
    Code:
    [jetphotos]http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6054902[/jetphotos]
We encourage you to use these tags whenever you want to post a link to an a.net or jp.net photo anywhere on the boards, especially in the Your Most Recent Airliners.net or JetPhotos.net Uploads! thread. It won't work for the Rejections thread because the URLs of rejected photos are formatted differently.

Please let us know if you have any questions or problems.

Does anyone know why the thumbnail feature does not show the large size of airliners.net photos?

I used the URL for the large version, but when you click it the small size shows.

    Thanks

Unfortunately, for whatever reason Anet's thumbnail generator directs clicks to the medium version instead of the large. On our end we're just pulling the ID # from whatever URL you paste in there, and then we plug it into Anet's thumbnail code. You can paste either the Medium or the Large URL on here and you'll get the same result. Sorry about that.

That's OK, I just wanted to check in case I was doing something incorrect.

    Thanks

    Gotham - Nice feature.

Are you able to do the same with Flickr?

Good idea, Tom. I should be able to set that up this week.
