Its offical the 40D is coming to the market this September!! Lots of great features! 10 megapixel and more importantly DUST REDUCTION!! If anyone is interested one mint condition Canon 30D will be up for sale come next month! ;)

6.5 Frames per second! They yanked the cleaning system out of the XTi and stuck it in the 40D. Great camera from the looks of it.

I gotta say, I'm not that impressed with the specs. (I don't really know what I was expecting, but having a 30D, I'm definitely not looking to upgrade yet.) The extra FPS could be nice (especially at airshows) and the anti-dust stuff might mean less work in PS cleaning out dust spots, but they're hardly exciting features. The new AF system isn't that important to me (I usually only use the center point anyway), the MP bump is basically meaningless since I'm not making big prints, and like with the 1DIII I still can't figure out who is going to enjoy a "Live View" feature (composing using the LCD) that can't autofocus.

I can't see why anyone with a 30D (maybe even a 20D) would want to spent >$1000 to upgrade to this.

That and a self-cleaning sensor....I'm sold.

I like what I see. I have 10.2 megapixel though. The big thing I like though I have not shot much so far this year is the self cleaning feature. That and the FPS rates. I do not want it though. I like my camera and I still suck with that so maybe one day.

I agree. When I upgraded from the 6MP D100 to the 10.2MP D200, it made a huge difference for some of the distant HoBe shots, etc.

Its a different sensor but the dust reduction technology is the same. The 40D and the Xti are two totally different cameras.

The XTi has a 1.6x field of view crop. And yes I will say that they are two totally different cameras but wanted to bring that up.

Field of view crop is different from post-procesing crop. The 1.6 one you speak of is something that most all DSLRs have, as the aspect ratio in digital is 2:3, different form film cameras. So, the lens magnification on all DSLRs is 1.6x.

However, the higher megapixel and a good sensor lets you crop closer in Photoshop with minimal reduction of image quality.
