    LAX 7/13/07 review (pics)...

    Hi everyone,

I went to LAX for a bit this late afternoon/early evening. The summer light is just starting to enter its prime golden state that I look forward to each year. I'm really excited to shoot a lot in the coming weeks here in LA! So, here's a start of what I hope will be a great summer of shooting at LAX... all the usual stuff was around, but I was pleased with a couple of the results. Cccccheck it out:

Clean planes make me happy! The latest Air France B77W :P :

switched to the innermost runway at the last second, thanks atc, real cool of you...:

the highlight of the day -- my first Russian aircraft ever! woohoo!!:

I hope to catch some more goodies next time :D

    ciao ciao,

    Josh May

    !

I'm headed to In-n-Out in five minutes. I was at KBUR last evening. I wish I knew you were at LAX. I would have asked for you to show me around. My flight back to EWR leaves at noon, so I wanted to get at least some LAX spotting in.

    Great shots by the way.

Wow awesome stuff Josh, great shots! I guess the "June Gloom" you were talking about is gone huh? That lighting is perfect.

Thanks all, I'm glad you enjoyed. I hope to have more to share next time!

Flyboy -- you should have known I am the resident LAX spotter around here...it even says under my avitar!! I live in L.A. 5 months a year, and in NYC for the rest. If you had told me you were around, I would have certainly tried to accomodate your desire to shoot at LAX. Oh well, now ya know :)

Nope Senga, you shot ship -42 and I shot ship -45. I heard this one will be sitting around til tomorrow (Sunday) morning at 8am when it will depart...3 days on the ground here it seems. We at LAX get a little influx of Russians every now and then to carry out satellites and the likes made in the area...sometimes 2 or 3 different ones in a weeks time. I'm so thrilled to have FINALLY caught one!

No worries, Josh. I didn't really have time to do any decent spotting anyway. The time I spent at In-n-Out yesterday was only for a few minutes, but I caught the Korean 744, JAL 744 and Eva Cargo 744. I left a bit later, so I didn't have much time before my flight back home. In-n-Out was backlit, too. D'oh!

I saw that An-124 on the ramp as we taxied out, too. Neat stuff. :)

Well Josh, I guess it was really worth the trip out to LAX! I'm very glad you got a great shot of F-GSQY and the Singapore 777-300ER. Cool Philippine shot and congrats on your first Russian!

By the way Josh, where is the credit for helping you realize Singapore was flying the 777-300ER to LAX three days a week and letting you know that the Air France would be F-GSQY? :D

HAH! Credit is given to those whom reciprocate, themselves! :P Thanks though, I hope to get a better SQ 77W shot next time I'm out there. I HATE when they land on 24L instead of 24R..grr!
