Senga - I know you hunt these aircraft, but it seems you're becoming the ultimate Magnet for exotic aviation in the USA. Some of these aircraft are now hunting you for their chance to be shot. :)

People sometimes wonder what they were put on earth "to do"... Well, for right now, I think you know your answer... haha.... I can only imagine what you're going to be shooting from the air in years to come.

Can the Senga Butts touring "slide" show be far behind?

And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

    Awesome shots, Senga!

I've seen two Aeroflot IL-96 takeoffs in my life and the first was pretty spectacular. I was waiting for my Delta flight back to JFK from Havana and I watched the Aeroflot IL-96 take off and it took up so much runway that it looked like just as it lifted off it would take out the trees at the end of the runway!

Putin generally comes in with two IL-62s.

Sweet!! With a catch like that, nobody cares if the light doesn't cooperate :)

That isn't a bad-looking plane, for an Ilushin...

What was Putin doing in Jacksonville?

Putin usually brings the IL-96 actually.

We see the IL-62s for other staff & dignitaries. Putin himself does not attend every year and the last time he did, the IL-96s had been grounded, so he did indeed arrive on one of the IL-62s on that occasion.

    Thanks again guys,

    Greeney, Mario,
To me the IL-98 sounds similar to CFM56-2 engines (UPS DC-8s have them)

Phil, It was taken on the Tower Air Ramp looking shoting west.

    Tom is right,
    Its usually the IL-96
The Presidential aircraft have the russian flag on the tail with a gold border like you see in the IL-96 image above. He also can be seen in a IL-62 (Back up aircraft) that is also with the same tail logo as the IL-96. Its different from the usual coat of arms that we see on the normal SDM IL-62s

    I wish they would bring a TU-204 or a TU-154 for once.

Nice shots! Really like them, never got to see any Russian aircraft ever, and probably wont... There is no reason for the Russians to come to DTW.
