Hey guys,
Some of you might have noticed the rising and dropping number of members at the bottom of the Forum Index page, as well as the jumbled usernames of new members. Many of these are fake users, or "bots", created by computer programs to advertise or promote things such as the sale of prescription drugs online, adult websites or more.
Though these bots manage to register, their accounts never become activated, and you don't have to worry about them ever posting on the site.
Such registrations are usually prevented with the image verification feature in the registration process, but it seems that the one that we use can now be conquered, and we are currently working to find a new and better one, or a new solution to controlling the bots' presence.
In the mean time, myself and Matt will be deleting the bot users ourselves, so don't be alarmed to see changes in member counts.
