i've got the lens and love it. it's a VR. i have yet to use it for aviation photography though. i used it for shooting around the house and when my daughter was still around. with the VR i was able to keep the shutter open a little bit longer without messing up the exposure.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
VR.....what does that mean in Canon parlance? Is that equivocal to IS?
