Reliable sources inside the aviation industry have told Flightblogger that American Airlines intends to place a "massive" narrow and wide-body order at the Paris Air Show that includes:

- Boeing 787s - 100-125 firm, plus another 100 options
- Additional Boeing 777s - firm number unknown
- Boeing 737s - 100 firm, options unknown

Well they can afford to pay that ass Aprey all that money and are still sticking the pilots where it hurts so I would say they have some money. Oh lets not forget they sold the SABRE system for an ungodly amount of cash. Also that they are saving tons with the fact that they joined the bent wing club.

The 787 is made of composite, and it's not possible to make it shiny. AA would have to choose a new scheme for the aircraft.

Besides, the color of composites is more like a charcoal black/gray color

so I guess they will be just some shade of grey-white? wow its almost as they have gotten a new paint job(but not really). AA's piant job is a classic and has been for 30 years

AA has plenty of cash on hand for deposits and a huge market capitalization. American will have no problem paying for those new planes if they do order them. American has been one of the if not the strongest U.S airlines in the nation.

From what I understand, Arpey is doing a decent job in working at getting management to work with the unions better.
As for his pay, while he may be getting paid big bucks, as I understand it, he is underpaid for his position. I'm no pro but this was what I learned not long ago.

Paint can't be shiny? :P I think we're talking polished bare metal here....and there always ways to make things look the same without changing up schemes. New paint processes are quite impressive with what you can create out of them.

Ryan, Arpey is far from and ass, people can say what they want about his pay and his bounus but the fact is he kept AA out of Chap 11, he didn't dump AA's pensions on the tax payers, and he's kept AA growing. Oh and he's not a drunk <cough cough Parker>...hehe

I don't think that can happen, as the 787 is the replacement for the 757/767 market.

Mario the 787 is a new aircraft type that suits two purposes, one it replaces the 767 and it opens new markets because of the economics involved. The 787 isn't a narrow body replacement, plus AA's 737s are new. The 787 isn't even a 757 replacement, remember the 757 is a narrow body. Even though today's 757s are on transatlantic ops they were never intended on doing those routes. The only real replacement on the market now for the 757 is the 737-900ER.

Or A300s. AA is still flying quite a few of those, and I'm sure very few will shed tears to see them retired.
