You're probably right Phil... theres no ethical standard thats for sure..its just about getting caught at the wrong time.

Now personally, I used to enjoy calling Chinese Restaurants myself.. :) and I think many of us probably outdid The Jerky Boys in our time... good memories really... I laugh to think about it still.. don't think I'll ever "outgrow" it...

But these jocks have a very fine line to walk. It doesn't surprise me they **** up trying to put on a daily show and pull in ratings...

Well CBS isn't making money now...They are obligated to pay Imus his 40 million under his contract. He's also suing CBS to because under his contract they encouraged his behavior.

It's just another double standard. O&A will get released from CBS, that's a fact, maybe not Monday, but soon enough. But when did only radio entertainment become "attackable"?

TV & Movies can show anything they want (provided there is no nudity or vulgar language) and nothing is done about it. Rosie O'Donnell can rag on the Chinese on "The View" and none of those sponsors remove their support...WHY?

Special Interest Groups have somehow managed to gain too much power in this country, and it's turning the country against itself. Grow Up America! or we will soon see Communism here is the US. You will only be allowed to say what we want you to say, hear what we want you to hear, and vote for who we want you to vote for.

I don't think freedom of speach is being abridged at all in these particular cases; Shock radio is a (relatively) new "feature" on the ever coursening cultural landscape of America - along with images of Jesus in Elephant **** and other offerings.

As new as bringing guns to school, the neighborhood porno section on the corner store etc. etc..

What is happening is the cultural atomization of America (the USA) as the general population loses common ground with each other. This is made worse by special interest groups to be sure, but it is a symptom.

The supposed "offensive" bit was not on CBS but was part of O&A's XM show so CBS has no reason to fire O&A. If they do I believe O&A will have a great lawsuit.

I don't believe XM will get rid of their money makers. If they do I am prepared to cancel my radio subscription.

This has gotten ridiculous. Fans of these broadcasters should be boycotting the sponsors who buckled under to these self proclaimed special interest groups.

I have blocked MSNBC on all my cable boxes and will not use staples.

I think CBS had no choice but to fire these guys after they blinked on the Imus issue. Not doing so would have essentially signified that making fun of blacks is unacceptable at CBS, but making fun of Asians is fine.

I don't like O&A at all, but by shock radio standards, what they did was just dumb, it wasn't terrible. XM is definitely not happy about it as it certainly won't help their already very shaky efforts to merge with Sirius, but they are the biggest talent names on their roster.

XM Radio Suspends Opie & Anthony

WASHINGTON and NEW YORK, May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- XM Radio announced today that the company has suspended Gregg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia, hosts of "The Opie & Anthony Show" and ceased broadcast of the show for 30 days, effective immediately.

XM Radio deplored the comments aired on "The Opie & Anthony Show" last week. At the time, the company strongly expressed its views to Opie and Anthony, and they issued an immediate apology.

^kay this is turning into bull ****. I hate the race card but lets just kick hot 97 off the air as well as 105.1 and 106.1 if companies are going to keep doing this bull****. Oh and while we are at it why don't we cancel political adds on the radio and Rush Limbaugh should be lynchd for aboarting calls in the 90's as well if we want to take things to this extreme. Excuse me while I go drown my head in some cold water to cool off now.
