Naming your child after some sort of aviation reference

I would not have even considered it. I always thought that it would be taking my geekdom to a whole new level.

In fact, the only name I would love to name someone is Tiberius, after James T Kirk, but I figured the kid would hate me, so I stuck the name to the cat ;)

One of my friends just had their 3rd child. He told me prior to the birth that the 3rd would have some aviation reference attached. I just laughed it off.

Brody Trippe (last name excluded) was just born. Brilliant! Just a brilliant name and reference!

(Could someone provide a short bio on who Juan Trippe is, for the youngsters here?)

I have to say I didn't think there was a way to pull it off so it sounds good. He chose a great name and made it sound good. I don't think I could have done such a good job. I probably would have picked something like David Speedbird Jones.

Ever hear of similar aviation related names as they pertain to people?
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

And since the cat is going to hate you just based on its nature, you are safe there

Juan Trippe founded Pan Am. He believed air travel should be available to everyone, not just the wealthy. Some of the innovative aircraft that came about due to his support include the Boeing 314 flying boat, the 707 and 747. Time magazine included Trippe on their list of the 100 most influential people of the 20th Century. Here is their profile of Trippe, written by Sir Richard Branson:

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

My daughter's name is Madison Jett McLaughlin. I've always thought it was great JT named his sone Jett and liked the sound of it when we were considering middle names for Madison.
