    Brother's Wedding...Gotta fly up

August 31-September 3 Is the weekend of my brother's wedding (Labor Day Weekend). Our options call for a nonstop flight into LGA, JFK, or ISP. I found a great deal on JetBlue ($89 JAX-JFK, $59 JFK-JAX; totaling $168.80 per person or $675.20 total). My dad is all into his free SWA tickets when I keep telling him that they aren't allowing reservations past August 24, so it won't work since we need to probably make arrangements now. JAX is my alternative to DAB and they have been really cheap lately. With the absence of AirTran at DAB in the fall, I am relying on jetBlue for this. SWA's MCO-ISP service won't help if we can't make reservations.
The following flights are what I am looking at:

    B6 616
LV: Jacksonville, FL at 4:50 PM
AR: New York-JFK at 7:10 PM

    B6 615
LV: New York-JFK at 1:40 PM
    AR: Jacksonville, FL at 4:07

The wedding is in Danbury, but we have to get my grandmother in Floral Park first, so we have to fly to NYC, which I don't mind since it is much cheaper than BDL, SWF, or HPN.

    I'll keep everyone updated.

Why not just wait a bit and use the free tickets? This is pretty far out to be booking already.

Sounds like your father is a pretty smart dude. Lets see... brother's wedding, I'm sure he'll be getting a nice gift so why not save some money and use the free ticket, makes sense to me. The only reason I see that it won't work is because you've decided in your own mind you want to fly B6. You also don't need to make your arrangements now, there is absolutely no reason unless you have some kind of voucher that needs to be used.

If you do need to book for your tickets now, $168 isn't bad, especially for Labor Day weekend.

When will WN allow bookings past Aug. 24?

Keep in mind if your family flies a lot, those WN tickets may be better used on a route where tickets are more expensive than JAX-NYC.

I told my dad to save those tix for another trip. I personally think that if we have to drive to the airport from Danbury, then we would not want to have to drive from Danbury to ISP. I do like B6 better than SWA in terms of assigned seating. Also my grandmother, who would be picking us up in ISP probably would get lost getting there, and JFK is easier for her to get to. Also trying to avoid MCO if I can...no nonstops from JAX-ISP, but JFK is possible.

There is also a lot that we need to get settled in, and it would be nice to get this out of the way. My brother and his fiance just booked yesterday on AirTran one way MCO-HPN.

I also just remembered that we need to use the free tix for the bachelor party when we come up for a Yankee/Tiger Game.

Guess We had more options than we thought. It turned out that we also were not all able to fly free and the price per passenger on SWA was more than the price per passenger on DL. Not to mention we were able to redeem a free ticket on DL as well.

If one had done research, you would have seen before booking DL that WN extended their schedules, so your father could have used the free ticket.

But it won't matter how much you post, your mind is set on jetblue. No other airline.

Congrats on getting a good fare and making it work.

Alex: I had done my research and SWA extended their schedules after we made our arrangements. We also do not have more than two free tickets right now.
