Great shots guys. Just for clarification, only the inbound thrust reversers deployed, right?

Here are a few pics. At first, I had no real desire to go. But I thank Tom for encouraging me.

I was great to see friends again. It's been a while. As the wx gets warmer, I hope to bring the next generation of spotters around :)

I was there to witness a moment.
I went there hoping to capture some of the essence of what may have met Concorde on its first flight to NY. The commotion, the media, the fanfare, (though I feel this was muted compared to the 70's.)

Can some of you identify yourselves here? This was the media group I saw.

Sweeping the runway just before the landing.

sinking down... Gosh, can you imagine what it must have been like for its Concorde granddaddy ;) Cars on Rockaway blvd, Woodmere, Cross Bay Blvd? Everyone hoping for a particular runway?

The first touchdown in America. History. Wow.

Slowing down on only 2 reversed with a full load of pax?

And some of the fanfare on the ramp following the plane.

coming up to the gate area.

I saw the gates extend to the plane but hope someone else has shots of it. The top gate extending up to the upper deck was so far up in the air, it was amazing!
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Nice shot everyone. Glad everyone had a good day.

Given my options, for my part I was concerned about a change in runways, and being out of position.

At the last minute I decided on Bayswater because I did not like the light otherwise, and because I figured I would be able to document the day on either 22L or 31L.

Really glad we got Airbus colors on this first visit.

Mario, the A380 only has reversers on the inboard engines.

It was a shame i didnt get to JFK in time to catch the Airbus A380 land but i still manage to catch her as she was being bushed back from terminal 1 just after the press conference was over.

I enjoyed seeing the Airbus A380 here at JFK today was just awesome.

Mario, do you have an all-access ramp pass? Those shots are awesome close up. You also made third and fourth most popular shots yesterday!

What Was the A380 Tail Number ?

I don't have a car so I couldn't get out to see the landing. She probably arrived on 22L. Was there a crowd on Rockaway Blvd? I waited with hundreds of others at Terminal One by McDonald's. We saw her taxy in, then park. A teacher even brought her entire class to see history. I thought that only the press would be allowed into the terminal, so I left my camera home. She parked for well over an hour then left for a hangar. It was very impressive to see. I'll try to return to JFK on Wednesday when she does a demo flight in the morning.

Yes, but to clarify, only staff can use NYCA's name for such access, with prior permission from myself. This option is NOT open to members.
