Neat Shot of FBF and Brooklyn

Great shot of Floyd Bennett Field which also captures nearly all of Brooklyn.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

    they built LGA.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Ah, ok. But why not still keep it open as a GA reliever for LGA?

    Two reasons:

    - FBF is too close to JFK, and is in fact under several approach and departure routes.

    - Teterboro handles GA.

Newark is considered "New York"'s first major airport, (but it was in New Jersey).

Floyd Bennett was supposed to be, but among other things the road along Atlantic Avenue was not percieved as helpful as the New Jersey road access to EWR.

Mayor LaGuardia was instrumental in the development of LGA and later JFK was built, like Phil says rather "too close" by... although its a matter of perspective and planning.

Flushing airport co-existed with LGA for many years.

you can say that again Phil.....Woops, sorry... You did!
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".
