    Bahrain(?) 747SP at JFK

Been a while since we've had one of these at JFK, right?

Sorry about the bad picture. I could only take a crappy one from far.

There was a LOT of security and what seemed like Secret Service all around, and a convoy there of limos.

Yes its been a while, I thinkt he last time was april 28th 2004.
If the SP was here to drop off people it has the best that that it flew up to SWF.

The 747-400 was here last September.

i saw that 744 at andrews afb last september, love to see the sp.
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!

I was just talking to Airport Operations at SWF and I was told that it was originally on the board a couple of days ago for arrival at SWF but apparently had been canceled which I guess means it must have went back to Bahrain or parked at some other airport.

Private aviation sheikh-style is very cool, these guys roll with their whole posse and need alot of room. I'd love to know what the interior looks like!

Nice way to describe it Nonestop2AUH :)
Yea they do not mess around when it comes to transporting VIPS.

When the DC-8 HB-IGH flying for the Congo DC-8 arrived at jfk no one knew of the arrival that was at the airport. They had to wait while they provided a spot for the plane.

Thanks Senga, these guys don't know how to travel light. The tribal culture of Gulf sheikhdoms means that the bigshots often travel not only with their advisors and staff, but also family, friends, etc. and a ton of 'stuff.' Remember, decades ago they were desert nomads, so they know how to take their home with them wherever they go. They will often call it a 'delegation,' but sometimes it's for nothing more than shopping or something else decidedly unofficial. When they go to Geneva or London for extended periods of time, like during the summer, they will often also bring their own cars and such. GVA is great for Gulf VIP spotting.

Looked like she departed around 1830ish. Too dark, and a Rwy 4 departure :(
