    Recent IAD shots!

    Hey guys,

we've been having our share of nice traffic and photography conditions down here in DC, so I thought I'd share some of the stuff I've shot this week. The Antonov came in Monday morning and since I didn't have class until 11:30, I was able to make a trip out to the airport to bag it. I made use of my snowday yesterday and took a ride out to IAD where winds were gusting at 35mph and all traffic was landing on 30 (extremely rare!). Here are the shots, enjoy! :D

Excuse the dust spots on the pics, but I didn't have the time to do any other editing other than cropping and sharpening on these. :P

    Greets,
    -Omar S.

Wow Omar awesome shots! Those British Airways shots are amazing!

If the A380 comes to IAD on March 26th I'll be down there to see her and spend the day spotting, hopefully you can give me some tips on IAD spotting.

    Great hsots Omar,
I sure would love to see a runway 30 arrival at IAD. What approach were they using before they were breaking off to circle to land runway 30?

Thanks for the kind words everybody! :D

Josh: Most of the shots were taken alongside the access road to the Udvar-Hazy Center. The Antonov shot was taken where the taxis park along the 19R threshold.

    Gordon: I've PMed you.

    Mel: Thank you!

Tommy: Thanks bro and yes, I do love those tower shots, haha.

Senga: They were all flying the 1R approach and then breaking off as soon as they crossed the runway threshold to circle to 30. British made the most 'interesting' approach, do a go-around the first time followed by what must have been a really bumpy landing the second time around.

Omar, simply awesome shots. Never heard of 30 arrivals at IAD, glad you captured this rarity on film.

I too love the 747 shot. Any time you can see the tops of both wings in a photograph it makes for an amazing perspective.

    Omar, I love the photos.
I held my little guy on my lap as I looked at the photos and I think he actually saw one he liked.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.
