Delta Air Lines Inc., which is in the process of emerging from bankruptcy protection, has received court permission to buy 30 regional jets from Bombardier Aerospace valued at more than $1 billion.

Atlanta-based Delta, the nation's third-largest carrier, had announced last month that it had reached a deal with Bombardier to buy 30 aircraft with the option to buy 30 more.

Bombardier said Friday the order for 30 Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets is valued at about $1.1 billion. If all options are exercised, the value of the contract could rise to $2.3 billion, the company said.
