Highheels asked me earlier this afternoon and I was not sure of the following..

They announced its arrival tomorrow on CBS 880 AM. She asked me if it was full of passengers, a revenue flight. I don't know. Is it a revenue flight? Or a flight with employees, press and dignitaries?

Come to think of it, I would think very few pax if any, this is a route proving flight, isn't it?
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

It's not a revnue flight, as there isn't any service for it anywhere in the world.

There will be 500 members of press, from what I understand.

MMmmm I wonder who highheels is!

Okay to business - here is the press release from Airbus about tomorrow's flights. The people on board are there to test the interior systems of the aircraft as if it was a regular flight!

It's not a revenue flight, will be carrying about 550 passengers, mostly Airbus & LH employees and reporters.

Phil and other NYCAviation gods, are we planning a group photo? I coincidentally have a 1/200 model of the A380 that I wouldn't mind boxing up and bringing along...could be a good prop in the photo.

    Re: runway widths:

According to Airnav, only 4R/22L is a 200' wide runway, all the others are 150'. However, it's also the shortest of the runways at 8400' (compared to 10000' for 13L/31R, 11351' for 4L/22R and 14572' for 13R/31L), so the runway decision might also be affected by that (but I don't know).

I think it would be a great idea to take a group photo once we've all gathered in one place. I'm sure we'll all be taking candid shots of each other all day.

Cool, I like how the Aircraft Type is undefined. A380 must not yet be a choice for that field. Not going to make it out today, was actually at T4 until almost 11 last night putting a friend on the Etihad but hope you all have a great time and get some great pics here that I will salivate over since my boys in the desert are getting a few of these babies!

    Another update:

The media evnet should be over at 1:50pm. Then, the plane will taxi to Hangar 19, which is the United hangar out back near where Evergreen (an N88ZL) used to park.

So, maybe you folks will be able to get more photos form across the water during that taxi.

The plane will be leaving in the morning to Chicago.
