Well I will take the warmth now and enjoy the snow storm when it finally hits us. I think it would be quite Ironic if we got nailed by one oh say two weeks from now. At least I can say I was alive the time it hit 70 in early January here in NY.

Yeah, we will either get hit hard in March, or in the years to come. The average is the average.

All I can say is enjoy it while you can, because you may end up getting your wish - a big snowfall - sometime in March! With these large temperature fluctuations, and the "global warming" events, what seems to be the case, is that we're seeing more significant departures from normal; in both directions. For example, this fall back in Colorado, we saw record warmth for a stretch of several days, in overall, it was a nice September. But, come October, we had a 18 blizzard hit, and you all know what has happened there in the past few weeks.

I used to be a huge snow fan, and would hate it when it got warm in the winter, or when we saw no big snowstorms, like in 1999 (I think that was the year), but the warm weather seems to put everyone in such a better mood, and just makes getting around, and life, a lot easier. Maybe it's because I'm around cold and snow for a large part of the year - being in Colorado - that I've started to feel this way, but I would take a warm day over a cold day anyday nowadays. The snow is fun, and it's great for the mountains, but to me it gets old quick and the cold associated with it, is no fun...

Christmas & NYE didn't feel the same at all- it was way too warm. Although I should've taken advantage and done NYE in Time's Square at least once in my life for the experience. But it was my sister's big bday party so that wouldn't have happened anyway.

    I kinda miss snow :(

I thought this weather was due more to El Nino and not as much global warming.

It is, the warm air currents from the ocean is blocking the cold air currents from the Artic.

Good post Tommy! Some people have short term memories.

Kind of on the same lines that Al Gore tried to use the Hurricanes in 2005 to promote his movie, and then in 2006, when there were no big disaster Hurricanes, we did not hear a word from Al Gore......

Forecasters say it's going to get a lot cooler around the middle of January thanks to an arctic air mass moving down from Canada, bringing with it normal or BELOW NORMAL temperatures, and the possibility of snow.

By the way, it's currently 70 in Central Park, 71 at LaGuardia.

Don't worry, Al Gore will use this to his full advantage, but that's ok, most of the world just ignores him anyway... He will shut up once we get the cold weather.

And yes, El Nino is the main cause for it.

Out here in Michigan we don't have it as good as you guys, we have had rain for the past week, and weather in the 40's... So much rain that our basement flooded!

How sweet it is out today! The only way you can tell that it's not late spring/early summer is by the sun angle. I saw a temperature sign in midtown reading 72 just a short while ago!

I completley agree with you yaas. While I am not a big fan of cold weather it just didn't seem like Christmas this year with out the cold weather and the beautiful scent of winter!

Something to remember is that it isn't uncommon or well It hasn't been uncommon in the past 15 years to have one or two days in January and February when the temperature has reached 70 degrees.

I write this right now sitting at my computer desk with basketball and a t-shirt on with the window open, it's great. :)

However us school kids would like some snow days soon. ;)
