    Original Qantas 707 returns

    I missed her completely!

I received a call from Monty in Perth on Sunday morning waking me up.
"Mate, you get shots of the Qantas 707?"
    "What? What 707?"

Seems I'm completely out of the loop. The first ever commercial jet sold by Boeing to a foreign airline was found somewhere in the UK. It was brought back to its former glory and flown back home via the UK and US.

I was annoyed on Sunday. I didn't get any photos of it landing into Sydney. My house mate Sam Chui not only managed shots, but got press access :)

Oh well.... what a gorgeous plane.
Hoping to get some shots soon, before she flies to off to be stored in a museum up north - perfect, because Queensland (cowboy, redneck country) is the birthplace of Qantas (Q.A.N.T.A.S = Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Service).

Expect some good shots from Sam

    Hi Glen,
I had been in regular communication with him about it. He bore the brunt of my rants, whining and moaning about the 707 not stopping in the east coast LOL!

Glenn, where is the museum up north and is it a QANTAS museum? And how is it different from Longreach? I assumed Longreach was a museum for Qantas.

What is the crime performance of that 707?

Hope you have plenty of bruce guy when you do finally get to see her! :)
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

"Crime performance?"....I'd say VERY good because it didn't pass through NYC! Oh the horror.

I think Sam crimed all over it.... I hope they wiped her down afterwards.

But seriously, the museum I am referring to is the Longreach museum (otherwise known as the QANTAS Founders Outback Museum).

And yep, it's as Outback as you can get. About 12 hours drive from the nearest international airport :P (which for Queenslanders is a short drive. There are some folks out there who have to drive forever just to get from their house to the letterbox).

That would have to be Monty.... I love English Muffins with jam.

Yes, the weather was terrible. Why can't the clouds go away. Looking out my office window now, and can see clouds, clouds, clouds....

    Hoping for a clear NYE.

I really need to get news from the Sydney forum. I've been posting here more than my local av forum :)

When is the 707 taking off?

    Oh Monty,
    Soo cold.....sooo cruel! LOL :)
Surely you woulnd't have expected me to buy a 500+ ticket to fly out of NYC to Orlando next day or so for a plane that I had no movment info on other than it was supposed to be at MCO and that I >>>MIGHT<<< have gotten?
I already have a "Qantas 707". The minimal difference in the 2 planes id hardly worth a drive to JFK. It would have been nice to get it though.
I do envy you guys down there.

I was hoping that it wouldn't have repainted it back until it arrived back in Austrailia and maybe NYC, DC would have become a tech stop. I really wanted to get the Saudi colors (Green white) HZ-123
