    Swiss MD-11 last flight video

You can see how much a plane can mean to some people. My favorite three-holer with my favorite scheme, what a memory. :(

The first couple of minutes are a bit boring but then it picks up:

Great video, thanks for sharring Jakub.

I love how the music get's all dramatic when the camera zooms in on the guy wearing the MD-11 jaket.

She really is a beautiful bird, wish I had been able to see her more at JFK.

I also ended up watching the whole thing. It was funny to hear just overture music and very little English and then "Forever Young" at the end. But I thought it was rather fitting, since it seemed one day pax MD-11s were disappearing--Swiss, Delta, Thai, JAL. I guess now it's just really KLM and Finnair, and when those birds go it really will be the end of three-holers.

    Thanks for sharing, Jakub.

The sad loss of an Swissair MD-11 in 1998, which was prompted by an electrical fire, had a big impact on this relatively small country. In the aftermath, the airline spent alot of money to redesign the cockpit electrical distribution system on remaining MD-11s as well as to install supplemental fire detection and supression systems. No other MD-11 operator apparently did this because it was not mandated.

One thing that stuck to my memory about the Swiss MD-11's were the mighty winglets captured during banking over the Alps, nothing more breathtaking.
