    ahhh i feel stupid.

i have the remark on this photo set as "Banking out of ABQ on our way to PHX"

    http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5821767 (Sorry for plug!!)

i received a comment on the photo that suggests thats way too much flap to be a takeoff. so tell me, is this takeoff or landing?

It does look like a lot of flaps, especially that high above the ground - you are probably a few thousand feet up, and the flaps should be well on their way up by then, if they were even extended that far to start with.

Does your camera give you exif data? I see it's not included with the posted photo, but if you can check to see when (date & time) the original shot was taken, that should help you place it in the proper sequence of your flight schedule for the day.

    BTW, great shot!

No offense, an honest question, but how would you not know if you took it during landing or takeoff?

I was about to ask the same thing!

Sure looks like you are on final there.

    Flaps

That appears to be flap 25 or 30 on a 737, which is exclusively a landing setting. The airplane looks like its turing final, and it is possible that it was slowed to approach speed further out than normal for ATC spacing.

I know that the 737 takes off with 5 degrees of flaps 99.9% of the time, and no more than 10% the rest of the time.
