    Spotting at EWR

Hi folks, thanks for allowing me into the group. I have been spotting for around 18 years travelling around quite a number of countries, including many trips to the USA.I will be in transit at EWR for around 6 hours en-route to Vegas on Monday 11th September. In your opinion,am I likely to receive a hostile reception spotting airside given the date? Also, all flights to the USA from the UK are subject to on board baggage restrictions, once I am in the US,will I be able to carry a normal sized bag on board for my onward journey.Sorry for such a long maiden post!

    Many thanks in advance

    Hi Paul! Welcome!

From what I understnad you can "spot" in the sense of watching aircraft and maybe jotting registrations, but I doubt you'll be able to get away with photography inside the terminals.

No problem! Just make sure to have your identification on you in case any police ask questions. Be kind and honest with them, and there shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I flew out of EWR on August 17th and spent a good two hours walking around the terminal spotting and taking photographs. No one stopped me or even looked at me.

It could have been because I'm a "kid". My dad was stopped once in Terminal 4 because he looked "professional" but I wasn't stopeed.

Not that I want to deter anyone, but remember the date. Being the 5th anniversary, of 9/11 (jeez already) security may be extra tight. Like Phil said...have your ID and boarding pass/ticket with you and be polite if you are questioned, all should be okay.

I've been at EWR on August 22nd. I've been taking pictures from inside the terminal B for almost 1 hour. Nobody ever said anything to me.

    Yep, that's me, walking evil!

Better yet, EWR is the Evil Knievel of photography. Death defying stunts to take a photo!
