Flights to London: Any tips for getting a good deal?

    Hey kids,

So I'm planning a trip to fly solo to London in November. I'm thinking of leaving at night on Nov 22nd & returning the evening of Nov 26th.

Do you guys have any suggestions or know of any promotions that would help me save on airfare? A quick Orbitz search gave me flights in the ballpark of $530 incl fees round trip.

note: I dont want to fly on AA.

    Thanks :D

I have seen roundtrippers as low as 450 or so when bought right from BA but I have no idea if they are running right now.

Something to consider, try flying on United, it may cost you a little extra. If you are new to the UAL mileage program, you get 20,000 free miles, after your trip to London, *poof* free domestic ticket....

While that would benefit me in the long run, I'd rather save the money now- but I'll still keep it in mind. Thanks

I tend to try the airline web sites as well - for example - those dates you gave - Continental KEWR-EGKK is $380. I did that trip earlier this year and I'm sold on Continental trans-atlantic - they were fantastic - only two that have been better were Aer Lingus and BA - but - try CO - they are pretty good.

Check out Air India. Fair for that time is $245RT, but the taxes are almost as much. Why, I do not know. Iceland air has a deal for $398 RT if you return that Monday. You might want to check Finnair as well. Thanksgiving falling that weekend will not help your plight either.

The funny thing was that I received the same pricing for thanksgiving weekend as I did for any other weekend in Nov. And yeah, can't fly back Monday- gotta work.

Another thing which I don't understand (maybe someone can explain it to me), why is it that even though there are differences in prices, the taxes all kind of bring them up to the same price (and in some instances, the lower base fare ends up costing more than the others after all of the taxes).. what's the deal with that?
