June 30, July 1st spotting by Nikolai review

    Hi Melanie, Josh and Phil

Nice to meet you three on saturday. You are all very friendly and inviting people, I'm glad we ran in to each other.

So here are some picks of the photos i took on the 31st and 1st, tell me what you think. (anyone, please give me comments, Im new at this)

Taken from spot D (Friday afternoon) This one's my favorate. The sky was hazy so I had to pump up the blues and ad some contrast. Its a shame i didnt get the registration number of the plane.

An airport impression. You can see an outline of a controller working in the tower window. Full size image here

ATA 737 going for a landing, this one was also very desaturated from the weather, so I tried to beef up the color. I may need to do some work on it, its still too cyan. Also it was late afternoon so the sun was in front, making all the planes dark.

Here are some song shots from today

Songs definatly photograph better from the side or top, you dont see much of the livery from the bottom. Its also too bad about that crooked LGA fence in the taxi shot.

Looking at today's shots, I think these planes would look better on a landing because the wheels would be extended and all the flaps open.

I wonder how far people take to retouching their photos, is it frouned upon in aviation circles (doesnt seem like it looking at airliners.net)? I think the sky in some of these could be made a nicer blue and some contrast upped.

Thats all for now, tell me what you thin (anyone please add comments) I'm going to upload some more tomorrow. you can see a few more plus other aviation photos I took here:

I love the one with the boat....the boat almost jumps out of the photo.

Really fantastic shots, especially for a beginner with this!
