Last 717 in the hangar (goes to Airtran)

I went to Boeing Plant to take some picture of the last 717. The aircraft should be pushed out next week before going to the paint hangar, while out of the hangar I am hoping to get a shot of the airplane in front of the Douglas sign, anyway here are some photos....

This picture tells the story, quite sadly, no more airplanes..

What's with all the dudes on bicycles?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

aw man, MIke, it was great to see that place so full of action. And my jaw just dropped when I saw this photo. What a difference. What a shame.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

what is going to happen to the facility now that there are no more airplanes on order? what about the personnel?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Many of the people are going to retire, some of the younger workers were transferred to the C-17 line, others were offered transfers to Seattle.

When I was there, 2 gals were being transferred to the C-17 program, 2 others were retiring.

They have some of the former Boeing/Douglas people working on Boeing programs such as the 787, P-8 (P-3 replacement) Eletronic Flight Bag, etc.

The factories are huge, fastest way to get around is on a bike or a golf cart.

My friend went to the ramp to snap the final Midwest 717 bird, 5154 N928ME. He will take me out there in April to shoot the last Midwest & the last "2" 717's....
