Today I had my first real spotting day with the boys! In fact, Phil even tossed me the camera, and then I began to grab it from him. Here are my very first shots ever. I want feedback, please. :)

Nice pictures Mel. That spot at Howard Beach can give your great Departures. I spent the day at Kingman today, wasn't as cold as New York but the wind made the 50F feel much colder and I had to don my wool hat. Clouds were plentiful but the sun made an appearance and I got some shots. Here are a couple of raw files.

Mel did good. I was very impressed.

Wehad a good crowd out there for the day, and it was great to fight the cold in a sunrise to sunset spotting adventure. Getting in and out of the car in-between planes to keep warm and going from spot to spot to fight the constant 31L/31R battle was fun.

These are my shots from the day:

Tom Turner gave me/us the heads up that this bird was coming in, and I was really excited about it. Can you believe this was my first time getting an ATA 753? We got both the arrival and departure.

Nothing special, but I just enjoyed that engine #3 was in the shadows while the others lit up.

This was fun. I love getting 773s as it was, but a nice Star Alliance and Howard Beach bank made it one of my favorites of the day.

I'm always a fan of Saudi aircraft. The sun seemed a little harsh for me, and the sky dark like I used a polarizer (but I didn't). Looks like I pasted it in, but I thought I'd share it.

My first exterior E190 shot. I don't enjoy many planes from the rear 3/4 angle, but these can pull it off. I think I actually flew on this one, IIRC.

Little darker than I'd prefer, but I loved the glare on this.

This was a fun one to get. I was honestly a little disappointed about how not-shiny it was. Looked kinda beat up. We rushed from our 31R spot to our 31L spot to get it and made it in time.

I hate A300s, but the unique DHL colors and the sunset made me pleased with this.

Qantas is always kinda evasive, so I was happy to get my first ever normal shot of her. OEI here.

Being a fan of dark blue, the North American and dark sky that came out here made this another fave for the day for me.

Tommy, Eric, Josh, Tom, Mario....post your shots! My TAM came out like ****.

    Great shots guys-

Mel you did fantastic, much much better then I ever will be able to do.

Phil-great shots as well, always good.

I had told tom there was a DC8 coming but unfortunatly it seemed they cancelled the flight plan for JFK, Darn shame, would have been great to see it.

Hope you guys had a great time and hope I was helpful to tom and the others in relaying the flight information!
