Pulled this shot out of JFK this morning! This GREAT looking "A340-500" departing 13R this morning. This one goes out to Art and Eric...they know why! :) Maybe it was denial? Departure was 12pm on the dot.
Yea I have been taking aircraft shots for 11 years now and still can't tell the difference between a MD-11 and a A340.
Came into JFK from ESSA as a Katrina relief plane. Heading down south now.

The plane departed down to Jasksonville, Arkansa and was sopposed to head up to SWF this evening around 6:28 P.M. and the arrival got pushed back to 8:15 P.M. and then the flight was cancelled.
I went out to SWF this evening trying to catch this beautiful bird and I was really disapointed that it never showed! And what makes the sadness worss was the the MD-11 was in new colors!!! :'-(
I still don't know how I missed the MD-11, because just after the noon time hour I shot this.
It's hard to take chances but sometimes it's better if you do

Eric, where did you shoot the A340-500 and what runway did it depart on?

My shot was taken at 12:01pm and yours was at 12:15 too.
