    US LGA E-170 Update

Just want to update everyone with some info on the US LGA E-170 service. The first flight is Sunday Sept 4th. There will be 4 flights that day, two pretty close together in the morning arriving at 0826 and 0931 and departing at 0935 and 1045. With a great weather forecast I hope some of you come out Sunday morning and here is why. All US 170 flying has been Mid Atlantic but these flights are the first for US operated by Republic, call sign "Brickyard" and this is there first day of US flying with the 170. Republic is in the process of buying Mid Atlantic from US and for this service they are acquiring three brand new 170's built a few months ago but never delivered to Mid Atlantic. The three are N827MD, N828MD, and N829MD. The first and third are in the normal (not new) US scheme but 828 is Star Alliance !

As of 8-31 all three are still in Brazil, one RP crew is there to ferry one north and I am told the other two are to be ferried by crews employed by Embraer. These may make it here in time, and worse case scenario Sunday morning LGA will see a US 170 or Star Alliance 170 or both. But if these aircraft are delayed I have been told Republic has a lot riding on this new service and push comes to shove they will fly it with other 170's ! Republic has many 170's in United colors, 4 or 5 in DL colors, and one white with blue tail hybrid like the 145's we have all seen here, so it could be interesting.

Also there is some uncertainty as to how long this temporary service will operate, originally it was 6 weeks, then I heard 3 weeks, now I am hearing it might only be to Sept 15 or another words 12 DAYS. I should no more in a few days and I am sure in the future we will see lots of US 170 and 190 service at LGA but this round is temporary

Both Matt C and I are working Sunday morning and I will post ETA;s when they are enroute for anyone who wants to come out.

    Regards

ron, you may be able to post but i will be ramp side all day long. i'll have a small cam with me that morning, and will probably show up monday morning with my D70 for ramp shots of this beautiful bird.

ron, i hope you make it downstairs for the first arrival.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Ron, is 9/4 the first day of service for the Republic E170s, or just the first day of LGA service? Also, where are the first two arrivals coming from?

I have a further update. the three 170's from the factory have been delivered so we probably will only see US colors and Star Alliance but you never know this one may show up one of these days.

sorry guys... but the towbar is here so there is no chance of the airplane being stuck at LGA...

by the way, all flights will be out on time.

Well it's Sunday morning and all is well. The first inbound is enroute on time, A/C 827, and the second is 828 in Star Alliance Livery. Not the best runways, land 31, depart 4, I hope some of you can get a shot today or tomorrow !

HA.. glad you guys got it. I looked up at the sky as I always do, and just coincidentally saw the star alliance on approach.. (many miles out mind you..)

btw. Tommy.. your shot on JP has the usual EWR heavy swinging by the Empire State Bldg in the background. Love when that happens.

I would like to take a moment to compliment Matt Celmer (Cancidas) re the first day of US 170 ops at LGA. This is the largest and by far most sophisticated aircraft Express has worked before and yesterdays operations I don't think could have gone any smoother. There where several levels of Management above Matt overseeing the operation but it was Matt that made it all happen. And about 50 mins after the first arrival, before Matt's team had even handled their first pushback/departure the second 170 arrived. I observed the first pushback with Matt behind the wheel, so smooth and professional ! Oh and BTW all 4 departures left the gate early. Way to go Matt and the rest of the LGA Express team, very well done and thanks to all the Flight Crews for their Professionalism/Co-operation also !
