A special Boeing 727 at LGA

I went to Planeview this afternoon, noticed there is a Boeing 727 parked where Trump used be. Who is that? Picture will posted later.

It's the Toronto Blue Jays' charter flight. They were in town wrapping up a 4-game series today with the Yanks.

I thought that jets from the 727 generation have been prohibited from civil airports years ago because of poluttion and noise regulations. I am quite surprized to see that I was wrong.

727s are certainly allowed, but they must meet certain noise and pollution requirements. Technically, the jets form that genration are NOT allowed, because at the time, they were a lot louder and dirtier.

Improvements have been made, and you get to see 727s at LGA quite a few times throughout the year.

On a side note, I beleve the Donald Trump does not need to have his jet upgraded to stage III because he is not carring fare passengers. I believe that the noise restrictions are only for commercial use....thus you will see original lears and other VERY VERY VERY noisy aircraft still flying.

(Yes the Trump is stage III compliant with winglest and also has #2 reverser removed...anyone know why?)
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

    Canadian 727

We saw the Canadian 727 at LGA yesterday while taxiing out for departure. Amazing the havoc caused by runway changes. We were headed out exactly at the time they changed from a 4/31 dep/arr to a 13/4 dep/arr plan...added 25 minutes to the taxi time.

PS the new US Air color scheme should have been at LGA yesterday and today.
    It's the fares, stupid

In other words you are saying that the 727 and its old timer friends had to go under some technical cahnges in order to be allowed to fly today? Do you know what kind of improvements?

    I'm pretty sure, yes.

Even MD-80s went under modifications of some sort, didn't they?

I know for a fact that they were made cleaner, as I remember how black the smoke used to be coming form 727s when I was younger as opposed to the last ones I saw depart out of LGA two years ago.

Someone else will be able to confirm or correct me, and supply better detail I'm sure.

Yea a lot of MD80's underwent "whisperjet" noise reduction mx...

From what I understand, it's basically something they put on the back of an engine to muffle and therefore reduce sound.

stage III restrictions apply to all aircraft on the civil register. the only airplanes exempt would be those use by governments and militaries. trump's airplane is stage III compiant.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
