    US Airways retro Jets.

I got this in my Dividend Miles News Letter.

"In addition to this symbol that celebrates the combined heritage of the new airline, several aircraft will be painted in the classic paint schemes of these airlines to pay tribute to each of them and their important role in the creation of the new US Airways".

    Allegheny Airlines
    America West
    Pacific Southwest Airlines
    Piedmont Airlines

It will be pretty cool to see the old Schemes again.

I wonder what they're gonna do with America West's special scheme 757s. I'll surely miss those if they repaint them in the new US Airways livery. Seeing these US Airways retro jets, however, might make up for it... :)

Speaking of which, I had heard that there would be a decal near the nose of each of the newly painted planes that has the logos of those four airlines in some sort of square of circle design. I'd love to see if that is true. I also heard that there would be PSA smiles on the new jets, but after seeing the new livery on a.net this morning I was not surprised to see that that rumor was false.

Here's a link to what the retro jets are gonna look like (it's also got a picture of the heritage decal that goes on the foreward part of the fuselage near the door):

wow. This is actually pretty damn exciting now. US Airways quickly became the most interesting airline to shoot among the majors.

Here's the new US Airways scheme for those who have not seen it.

    I completely agree!

My trips to PHX are gonna get a whole lot more interesting now, too. I can't wait until they start repainting more of the planes. I have a few spots in PHX where I might be able (with some luck) to get ramp overview shots with current AWA, current US Airways, new US Airways and special schemes all in one shot! How awesome that will be!

Every time I look at that PSA retro jet I get a real big smile on my face. :) Way to go AWA/US for giving so many people what they wanted -- to see "the smile" back in the air!

Wow.. These retro-jets are going to be great.

Really, can't complain if we get to shoot Allegheny, PSA and Piedmont liveries... but if I had one nitpik, it would be that Mohawk was left out.

Not sure how good it would look on an Airbus, but would probably have looked good on one of those new Embraer jets.
