Planning trip to NYC-anyone interested in spotting?

Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I have been in contact with Phil and he suggested I join since I am planning on going to NYC. I am not a spotting expert (have only done it once in YYZ). So, I want to go to NYC in the next coming weeks. When would be the best time to spot? (date wise) Also, anyone interested in joining me?

If you'd be willing to wait until September, or even October, you might be better off. The weather will be cooler and more conducive for photography.

September 10th is a collectibles convention at Newark, so I don't know if you'd want to go to that. There is also another event probably later in September at LGA called Kids Day. Open to the public and a lot of fun, there are airliners, fighter jets, helicopters, all open for boarding and playing with at no cost for the day. Usually mid-September.
